What is an Immigration Evaluation?
An immigration evaluation is a clinical psycho-social assessment conducted by a mental health professional that is focused on gathering information relevant to your immigration case in order to produce a clinical report to be used in your case.
How long does it take to complete?
In most cases the information is gathered in 2-4 weekly sessions that can last between 50 and 90 minutes each. After all information has been gathered it takes approximately 2-4 weeks for your clinical report to be ready for review and final draft to be picked up. Therapist is sometimes able to accommodate for cases requiring a quick turn around, however these cases will be charged an expedited fee. If you have been recommended to get an immigration evaluation by your attorney, please do not wait until you are close to the deadline as availability is not guaranteed. Sessions are available in-office or online.
What can I expect in each session?
You will first complete the necessary paperwork which the therapist will review with you to answer any questions you may have and ensure you understand the process clearly. You will also complete any necessary assessments the therapist determines necessary given your case. The therapist will then gather historical information about your development, relationships and support system, significant life experiences, physical and mental health and anything else deemed relevant to your type of immigration case.
What will be included in my clinical report?
Your clinical report will include a summary of all information and data gathered in your sessions along with a clinical diagnosis (if applicable) and any clinical observations and recommendations deemed appropriate by the therapist. It is important you understand the therapist does not make any recommendations for your case to be approved as the clinical report is written from an objective clinical point of view and therefore cannot guarantee the clinical report will be useful in your particular case. Please consult your attorney to determine if an immigration evaluation can help your case.
How much does it cost?
The price will vary case-by-case, but below is a price list to give you an idea.
30 min consultation with attorney (if necessary) = Complimentary
50 min session = $150 each
90 minute session = $250 each

All fees per session are due at the time of the session. Fee for the clinical report can be made in payments, however, in order for therapist to begin working on the report the first half will be due. All reports will be released to the client and/or attorney until all balance is paid in full, no exceptions, please plan accordingly.

Credit Card and Cash payments only.
I am the first-born daughter of immigrants and wife to an attorney who has worked on both sides of the immigration process. Being bi-cultural (Mexican-American) and bilingual (native Spanish-speaker), I am very aware of how many things (views, behaviors, beliefs and practices) can be misunderstood and dismissed as unimportant by mainstream culture in the United States. Bringing my personal background together with my professional experience as a trauma-informed therapist allows me to understand the experience and needs of immigrants and their loved ones.
